UK Average House Price

Latest

272,611£

Methodology

## What this measures

The mix-adjusted average price of homes sold in the UK, from completed sales registered with the land registries.

## Why it matters

It is the official UK house price measure, based on actual sales rather than asking prices or one lender's mortgages.

## How to read it

Read the annual change (uk.house_price.yoy). Figures lag about two months because they wait for sales to register.

## What it does not say

Recent months are revised as late registrations arrive. Before 2002 the series is quarterly, repeated monthly.

## Source

HM Land Registry, UK House Price Index (produced with the Office for National Statistics, Registers of Scotland and Land and Property Services Northern Ireland), United Kingdom, all property types. Palanor downloads it every day; each release revises the previous 12 months.
