Methodology
## What this measures
Federal Medicaid spending in Nevada divided by its total Medicaid spending (benefits and state program administration), in percent: a Palanor calculation from MACStats Exhibit 16. One value per fiscal year, FY 2010 to FY 2024.
## Why it matters
It shows how much of Nevada's Medicaid program Washington pays for: the state's matching rate (FMAP, set by its income per person relative to the nation), whether it has expanded Medicaid to low-income adults under the Affordable Care Act (matched at a higher rate), and temporary federal increases.
## How to read it
FY 2024: 73.0%, 14th highest of the fifty states and DC. Range in this record: 57.0% (FY 2012) to 78.0% (FY 2022). Compare with the national share, us.medicaid.federal_share.
## What it does not say
A ratio of spending, not the statutory FMAP: administration is matched at different rates from benefits, and the mix of enrollees and services moves it. "State" spending includes local funds and provider taxes. Each fiscal year comes from the one MACStats edition that published it, with the figures reported a few months after the year closed; later state revisions are not reflected.
