Methodology
## What this measures
Grant obligations (award types 02 to 05) by the U.S. Agency for International Development to USAspending's Business recipients (small businesses and other for-profit organizations), by fiscal year, net of deobligations.
## Why it matters
It shows which part of the government is paying companies directly, and when.
## How to read it
The series starts in FY2008 at $254.9 million. The latest reading, for FY2025, is $186.0 million. The high is $523.3 million (FY2024) and the low $118.2 million (FY2010). A negative year means deobligations exceeded new grants. The newest fiscal year can still change.
## What it does not say
Obligations are commitments, not cash paid out.
