Methodology
## What this measures
The share of household-held stocks and mutual funds owned by the less wealthy half of households.
## Why it matters
Stock-market gains reach households in proportion to what they own. This is the distribution of stock-market participation, measured in dollars rather than by who has an account.
## How to read it
Share of all household-held corporate equities and mutual fund shares, excluding those held in defined-contribution pensions. Moves with prices as well as with buying and selling.
