Methodology
## What this measures
The average answer to "Overall, how happy did you feel yesterday?" on a 0–10 scale.
## Why it matters
The UK has asked a large national sample the same four wellbeing questions every quarter since 2011. That makes it one of the longest official, high-frequency reads on how people are actually doing, alongside what they earn and spend.
## How to read it
Mean score out of 10 across UK adults, seasonally adjusted. Moves are small: a change of 0.1 is meaningful. Higher is better. The most day-to-day of the four measures, so the most sensitive to events.
## What it does not say
These are self-reports from about 20,000 adults a quarter. The quarterly series are official statistics in development, and ONS revises them.
