Iceland: GDP per Person at Purchasing-Power Parity
Latest
68,065international $ (2021 prices)
Methodology
## What this measures
Iceland's GDP per person converted at purchasing-power parities, so a dollar buys the same basket of goods and services everywhere, in constant 2021 international dollars (NY.GDP.PCAP.PP.KD). Annual since 1995, dated December 31.
## Why it matters
PPP is the standard way to compare living standards across countries: it corrects for the lower prices of haircuts, rent and other local services in poorer countries.
## How to read it
Because prices are held at 2021 levels, changes over time are real growth per person. Compare levels across countries in the same year.
## What it does not say
PPPs come from the International Comparison Program's periodic price surveys and are extrapolated between them, so levels carry an error of several percent. It does not account for hours worked: see world.gdp_per_hour.ppp.
