Qatar: Fuel Share of Exports
Latest
83.76% of merchandise exports
Methodology
## What this measures
Fuels (SITC 3: crude oil, refined products, natural gas, coal) as a percent of Qatar's merchandise exports.
## Why it matters
It measures how much of Qatar's export earnings depend on oil and gas. Qatar's fuel exports are mostly liquefied natural gas, sold largely under long-term contracts.
## How to read it
Annual, dated December 31. It was 83.8% in 2024, down from 86.5% in 2023. Since 1996 it has ranged from 73.9% (2009) to 93.0% (2011). It falls when oil prices fall as well as when other exports grow, so read it with the oil price.
## What it does not say
It covers goods only, not services such as tourism or finance, and it shows shares, not dollar amounts.
