Sources

First Residence Permits Issued to U.S. Citizens · EU27. Source: Eurostat, dataset migr_resfirst ("First permits by reason, length of validity and citizenship"), citizenship = United States, geo = EU27_2020, reason = TOTAL, duration = TOTAL. Annual, reference year = calendar year, dated 31 December. Palanor reads it from the Eurostat JSON dissemination API every day and rewrites the last eight years so revisions carry through. Source: Eurostat (migr_resfirst). Eurostat data may be reused for commercial and non-commercial purposes with acknowledgement of the source; this series covers EU and EFTA countries only, which the reuse policy allows.

U.S. Green Cards Issued to People Born in Europe (DHS). Source: U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Office of Homeland Security Statistics, Yearbook of Immigration Statistics, Table 3 "Persons Obtaining Lawful Permanent Resident Status by Region and Country of Birth", row Europe. Fiscal 2005 to 2014 from the 2014 Yearbook data tables (https://ohss.dhs.gov/topics/immigration/yearbook/2014); fiscal 2015 to 2024 from the 2024 Yearbook (https://ohss.dhs.gov/topics/immigration/yearbook/2024/table3). Hand-entered by Palanor each year when the Yearbook LPR tables post (DHS releases the data tables as they become available and the final Yearbook PDF in September of the following fiscal year); every observation carries its source URL. U.S. government work, public domain (17 U.S.C. §105).

Charts are drawn from Palanor's signal library and recomputed from source data on every view. Transformations (changes, indexing, year-on-year rates) are Palanor's.
