Core goods are commodities less food and energy commodities; core services are services less energy services.
The two halves of core inflation. Goods prices barely rose for two decades, spiked with the pandemic supply crunch and are now watched for tariffs; services, mostly rent, wages and insurance, move more slowly and decide where core settles.
