Plays the chart through its history. Pauses are where the data set a record or moved most.
Palanor calculation from SEC EDGAR (public domain): press releases attached to a fixed monthly sample of 8-K filings reporting a material agreement or a completed acquisition, kept when they are about a deal. A release counts once it uses a theme’s words at least once, including in its forward-looking-statements notice; the word lists were fixed before counting. Each quarter rests on a few dozen releases, so single quarters are noisy.
The rationale companies give when they announce a deal: the share of deal press releases filed with the SEC that mention artificial intelligence, synergies and vertical integration, counted by Palanor.
