Bureau of Labor Statistics, JOLTS, seasonally adjusted, via FRED (JTSHIR, JTSQUR, JTSLDR). Each rate is the month’s count divided by employment. The quits rate is a gauge of workers’ confidence that they can find a better job.

How fast American workers are being hired, quitting and being laid off. Quits and hires surged in the 2021–22 “Great Resignation” and have since fallen back below pre-pandemic levels, while layoffs stay low: a labor market that has cooled without breaking.
