UN Maternal Mortality Estimation Inter-Agency Group, via the World Bank. Model estimates with wide uncertainty where deaths are not registered. World Bank regions; each aggregate is computed by the World Bank. Since 2024 Afghanistan and Pakistan sit in the Middle East and North Africa region, not South Asia.

How often pregnancy and childbirth kill women in each region. The ratio measures access to skilled birth attendants and emergency obstetric care; the UN goal is a world ratio below 70 by 2030.
