Tanker Stocks Against the Market
U.S.-listed tanker owners (equal weight) and the S&P 500, price indexed to the start of the window
Plays the chart through its history. Pauses are where the data set a record or moved most.
Tanker owners: Frontline, DHT, International Seaways, Scorpio Tankers, Teekay Tankers, Nordic American Tankers and Okeanis Eco Tankers, equal-weighted and rebalanced daily. Prices only; these companies pay large dividends that are left out. Calculated by Palanor from licensed daily closes.
Tanker owners earn the spot rate for carrying crude and fuel, so their shares are the open market’s read on the tanker trade: export volumes, voyage distances and trouble at the chokepoints. The freight indices themselves are licensed by the Baltic Exchange; the stocks are not.
