Line

Employed Women vs Men Since the Pandemic (Household Survey)

Change in employed people since February 2020, thousands

Women: 2,654 in Sep 2026+2,654 since Feb 2020

Plays the chart through its history. Pauses are where the data set a record or moved most.

U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, Current Population Survey, seasonally adjusted, people aged 16 and over. The survey was not collected for October 2025 (the 2025 lapse in appropriations): the line breaks there. New population controls each January can step the levels.

The household survey counts people rather than jobs and includes the self-employed. It is noisier than the payroll count, and the January population-control steps show as jumps, but it is the check on whether payroll gains reach people.
