Palanor and Quiver Quantitative

The same public record, put to different work.

Quiver Quantitative and Palanor read many of the same public records: congressional disclosures, SEC filings, lobbying reports and patents. Quiver turns them into alternative data and trading tools. Palanor measures them and joins them, company by company, to the rest of its signal lattice. This page sets out where the two overlap, what each does that the other doesn’t, and how to use both.

What they do

Quiver Quantitative

  • Quiver “scrapes alternative stock data from across the internet and aggregates it in a free, easy-to-use web dashboard.” It was founded in February 2020 to bridge “this information gap between Wall Street and non-professional investors.”[1]
  • Its API lists 17 datasets: congress trades, congress stock holdings, insider trades, politician net worth, government contracts, corporate lobbying, revolving-door lobbyists, corporate donors, corporate patents, executive compensation, hedge fund activity, top shareholders, off-exchange trading, Donald Trump stock trades, app ratings, a newsfeed and daily equity prices.[2]
  • Congressional trades come from STOCK Act disclosures: “We download those disclosures, parse them for stock trades, fetch the stock’s performance in the time following the transaction, and calculate each politician’s cumulative return from their trades.”[4]
  • The API returns individual records, for example “the most recent transactions by members of U.S. Congress”, and a hosted MCP server “works with Claude, Cursor, ChatGPT, or any MCP client.”[7][6]
  • On the web: a stock screener, congressional and institutional backtesters, alerts, backtested strategies and a leaderboard of politicians’ portfolios.[5][8]
  • The API starts “from just $30/month”. The Hobbyist and Trader plans “are for non-commercial use”; commercial rights start with the $250-a-month Startup plan, for companies under $1m in annual revenue, or Enterprise.[2][3]

  • You want a low monthly price for personal, non-commercial use.

Questions

Is there a free alternative to Quiver’s congressional trading data?
Palanor publishes 41,085 congressional stock transactions from House and Senate electronic reports since 2020 on free public pages at palanor.com/congress-trades, each linked to the original filing. It does not offer Quiver’s backtesters, alerts or a record-level API. The official sources, the House Clerk and the Senate’s eFD system, are also free to read.
Can I use Quiver data commercially on the $30 plan?
Quiver’s pricing page says its Hobbyist and Trader plans are for non-commercial use. Commercial rights start with its Startup plan at $250 a month, for companies under $1m in annual revenue, or with Enterprise. Check their current terms before you rely on this.
Does Palanor have an API for congressional trades?
No. Congressional trades are published on public pages and as aggregate signals only. Insider trades, 13F and 13D/G ownership, executive pay, lobbying, contracts and patents are in the Palanor API and MCP, with a free key.
Does Palanor track politician net worth or congressional holdings?
No. Palanor publishes periodic transaction reports only. Quiver lists congress stock holdings and politician net worth among its datasets.
What does Palanor add to the same public filings?
It reads them next to everything else known about the company, its scored earnings calls, guidance checked against filed results and year-over-year risk-factor changes, and joins them to 4,600+ signals across macro, markets and the physical world. Every value carries its source and license.
