Palanor and Statista

Statista collects statistics on tens of thousands of topics and models market sizes and forecasts for more than a thousand markets. Palanor publishes a narrower set of public series, each naming its original publisher and license, and builds its own indices and readings on them. What they do

Statista

  • Statista is “a global data-as-a-service company with an extensive collection of statistics, reports, and insights on over 80,000 topics from 50,000+ sources in 170 industries.” It was established in Germany in 2007.[1]
  • For standard statistics, “You can find ‘Source’ and ‘More Information’ in the information boxes next to a specific statistic.” Statista describes itself as “not the source of the surveys or statistics, rather, the aggregator and collector of information provided by outside sources.”[4]
  • Market Insights covers 1000+ markets in 190+ geographies with a five-year forecast horizon. Its methodology calls the results “modeled data, which approximates but does not reflect reality (which is true for all comparable data sources).”[2]
  • On sourcing in Market Insights: “Due to the high degree of data processing, individual sources for each data point are not always cited, and instead, the consolidated source is listed as ‘Statista’.” For smaller economies, models “leverage benchmark ratios from similar, more developed markets”.[3]
  • A free Basic account; Starter at $199 and Personal at $649 a month, billed annually; Professional through sales. Publication rights and Market Insights are listed only with Professional.[5]

For standard statistics, Statista describes itself as the aggregator and collector of information from outside sources, and shows the source next to each statistic. Which Statista plan includes publication rights?
Statista’s pricing page lists publication rights only with the Professional plan, which is priced through sales.
How does Palanor source its numbers?
Every public signal resolves to its original publisher in Palanor’s provenance ledger, with a license class. API and MCP responses carry the source, publisher, license and attribution, and only redistributable sources are served. Palanor doesn’t model market sizes.
