Plays the chart through its history. Pauses are where the data set a record or moved most.

Killed by AI (killedbyai.net), CC BY 4.0. Layoffs where the company, its CEO or a filing blamed AI or automation, by announcement month, worldwide. Hand-curated: it counts what gets reported, not every layoff, and past months change as entries are added. Challenger counts announced cuts by U.S. employers that cited AI; months with no Challenger bar are months its report did not break out an AI figure, not zero.

Two independent counts of the same thing: jobs employers said they cut because of AI. Challenger reads announcements in its monthly job-cuts report; Killed by AI curates layoffs from company statements and filings. Where they agree, the trend is real; where they differ, it is usually one large announcement counted in one tracker and not the other.
