Hyperscalers: Debt Due Within a Year and Cash

Microsoft, Amazon, Alphabet, Meta and Oracle together, at calendar quarter ends, $ billions

Plays the chart through its history. Pauses are where the data set a record or moved most.

Palanor calculation from SEC EDGAR XBRL 10-Q and 10-K filings: current debt (current portion of long-term debt, commercial paper and short-term borrowings) and cash and cash equivalents, carrying amounts as first reported. Marketable securities, which these companies hold in large amounts, are not in cash. A quarter appears when all five have reported it.

How much the five largest cloud spenders must repay within a year against the cash they hold. The gap is the room they have before maturing debt needs refinancing.
