Plays the chart through its history. Pauses are where the data set a record or moved most.

Palanor count of Legal Entity Identifiers by the month each was first issued, from GLEIF data (CC0). Duplicate and annulled records are left out. An LEI is needed to trade, issue securities or file many regulatory reports, so registrations follow rules as well as business formation. Funds are the entities GLEIF classifies as funds.

A monthly read on new U.S. fund vehicles reaching the markets: funds register for an LEI when they start trading derivatives or filing reports that ask for one.

Source: Counted by Palanor from the GLEIF Golden Copy of 2026-10-19 (Level 1 LEI records, by initial registration date); later months from the GLEIF API (api.gleif.org), the last three months rewritten each month. GLEIF LEI data is provided under CC0 1.0: "The data available through the Access Service are provided under the CC0 licence." Source: GLEIF.

Charts are drawn from Palanor's signal library and recomputed from source data on every view. Transformations (changes, indexing, year-on-year rates) are Palanor's.
